We have some great activities planned to keep you occupied over the weekend. We're aiming to keep everything outdoors and have picked some of the Duddon's best locations for climbing, walking, navigation and more. Check out our events below.

START THE DAY WITH YOGA
There's no better way to start the day!
Tray Hughes is a local yoga teacher and will be leading a yoga session each morning at 8am, at the Turner Hall campsite or, if the weather is inclement, at the Seathwaite Village Hall.

This is open to campers only.
DUDDON & FURNESS VALLEY MOUNTAIN RESCUE
Play with the big girls and boys!
The lads and lasses at the Duddon & Furness Mountain Rescue Team have agreed to show us their vehicle and equipment and let us play with their toys.
​
This is recommended for children age 5 and up but adults are welcome too! Meet at 10am at the village hall on Saturday 23 April.
FIX THE FELLS
Helping out
The team at fix the fells is going to show us how the fells are fixed. Path repair, water off runs, managing the sheep, managing the hoards!

FELLRANGING WITH MARK RICHARDS
Explore the Duddon
Local lakeland fell walker Mark Richards has written numerous guidebooks on the Lakeland fells and has some fantastic walking planned for us, with Dow Crag and Harter Fell as potential objectives.
This is an all day event for both Saturday 23 April and Sunday 24 April meeting at 10.15am at the village hall.
BOULDERING WITH ESTHER
Best blocs in Duddon
Coaching, tuition and top tips in a fun, group environment. Esther will guide you round some quality Duddon bouldering, while also looking at a range of skills that are crucial to outdoor bouldering, such as route reading, projecting tips, movement skills and safety advice. There will be a range of grades to suit different abilities in the group.

To join this activity you will need to have bouldered V2 before, even if it's just indoors, and you will need to bring your own rock shoes.
​
Cost £35pp per day, meeting at 10am on Saturday 23 April and Sunday 24 April at the Lakesfest 2022 parking area at the Turner Hall campsite.

CLIMBING EVENTS
Last minute availability!
We have teamed up with some of the best mountaineering instructors to give you the opportunity to learn skills from the people closest to the latest techniques.
​
Wall to crag - take those first steps and gain confidence climbing outdoors under the guidance of qualified instructors.
Cost anticipated to be around £75pp per day, depending on numbers.

Self rescue - what to do to get out of a sticky situation on the rock!
Cost anticipated to be around £25pp per day, depending on numbers.

Scrambling with ropes - how and when to get out those ropes in tricky scrambling sections.

STEPPING OFF THE PATH
How to navigate out of Lake District clag
These sessions are for those who want to practise and develop their navigation skills. It is particularly aimed at ML trainees and those engaged in Munro and Corbett bagging. Courses are organised and led by Andy Clifford. If you are interested in attending please get in touch with Andy by emailing him at steppinoffthepath@gmail.com, giving him some details of past experience and aspirations.
CONISTON COPPERMINES TOUR
Explore the mines
Not to be missed opportunity to access the Coniston Coppermines with a guided tour, bring a torch, helmet and wellies (just in case!).

10.30am at the Ruskin Museum car park (LA21 8DU) on Saturday 23 April. Please note this is a change in the date originally advertised, which was Sunday. There will be no tour on Sunday 24 April.
FOOD AT THE NEWFIELD INN
Replenish your energy supplies
The best pub in the Duddon, The Newfield Inn, is handily located 10 mins walk from the Turner Hall campsite. The pub will be open all weekend offering hearty fare for hungry climbers and walkers.

EVENING JOLLITIES
The Lakes Wads
Local father and son climbing team, Craig and Rob Matheson, will be giving us some insight into their longstanding climbing relationship and their mindset for hard trad with a talk and slide show.
Another legendary lakes team, Mary Jenner and Dave Birkett, will be joining the Mathesons for a Q&A session.
This is your opportunity to quiz some top trad climbers on head issues, motivation, injuries and whatever else you want!
All hosted by the equally legendary Andy Mitchell.

From 7pm on Saturday 23 April in the village hall, 10 mins from the Turner Hall campsite and next to the Newfield Inn pub.
STAR GAZING
Yes star gazing!
Ever looked up at the night sky and thought wow! Then wished you knew more about the stars? Astronomy expert Ian Bradley will be on hand to answer all your questions and tell us what’s going on up there.

11pm at Turner Hall campsite on Saturday 23 April. This event is open to campers only and will only take place if the sky is clear. Fingers crossed!
LIVE MUSIC
Raving Rock
Local band Mike Willoughby's Raving Rock are so named because they rave about rock; proper solid rhyolite you can grip and pull up on!
Raving Rock celebrate in song all that is wild and joyous, edgy and compulsive in the sport of rock climbing and outdoor adventure. There are also soulful meditations on the Lakeland landscape and the natural world.
​
Raving Rock features Mike Willoughby on lead vocals, Rick Middleton on bass and harmony vocals and Iain Hunter on drums.
​
